Licensure to Practice Law:
Licensed to practice Law in New Mexico (since 1991) and in multiple Federal District Courts, the 10th Circuit Federal Court of Appeal, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, and the Army Court of Criminal Appeals.
Legal Training & Experience:
Trained in trail advocacy by renowned litigation organizations and having conducted in excess of 100 trials, including jury trials in federal courts and in many jurisdictions throughout New Mexico.
Principal of Shoemaker Law firm since 2005, dedicated primarily to divorce and family law, and wrongful death and personal injury matters.
Former associate, principally with local large law firms. Represented large corporations and individuals on variety of legal matters not limited to wrongful death, professional malpractice, contracts, corporate liability, construction accidents, products liability, personal injury, and divorce and family law.
Honorable and distinguished Military service in U.S. Army:
Active duty (four years) and reservist (10 years) in US Army as lawyer (“Judge Advocate”), where responsible for advising base and unit commanders on variety of legal issues not limited to federal environmental, labor, civic, criminal, procurement, and criminal law, and advised and represented 1000s of clients involving divorce, family law, wills and states, and criminal legal matters.
Presenter to both professional and civic organizations for continuing education credits on divorce and family legal issues, wrongful death, personal injury and insurance coverage issues.
Trained mediator since 1988. Completed first mediation training in 1988. Obtained Certificate in Dispute Resolution from Willamette University College of Law in 1991 (a 20 credit hour post-graduate course). Most recently, completed week long course with Gary Friedman’s Center for Understanding in Conflict October 2008.
